Music4Happiness was founded by Corbin Glover, 19, as a way to carry forward the vision he had as a young musician to bring joy to others through music, inspire young children, and provide funds for people who need a helping hand. He received a 10 Year Service Award at the age of 16 so giving back to the community started at a young age.

The violin was an instrument of choice when Corbin was two years old. “I was downtown with my parents at Christmas time. An instrument store caught my attention and I wanted to get a better look. As I entered, I stared at the violins and stroked the string. The beauty of the instrument instantly won me over! When I saw Santa a little later, I ran as fast as I could to tell him I wanted a violin for Christmas. Sure enough, I received exactly what I wanted from “Santa” and started taking music lessons when I was four - which is the inspiration for the number 4 in the name of this organization!”

Since that time, Corbin has flourished as a musician. Now 17, he is currently a concertmaster for the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra after progressing from the rear of the second violin section when he joined the orchestra three years ago. Additionally, Corbin performs as a soloist at his high school and participates in numerous ensembles with other musicians.

Most recently, he was presented the Hugo Rinaldi Fellowship Award from the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra, an esteemed award for seniors in high school who have demonstrated leadership, commitment and the ability to give back to the community. In addition, this past year, he won the Marin Music Chest Competition and Scholarship (the only violinist in 2019 to receive this award) and subsequently received a stipend to perform in the 2019 Young Artists Concert with six other select musicians.

Additionally, Corbin was chosen along with a cellist and flutist to perform in the prestigious 2019 Junior Bach Festival. This past summer, Corbin toured Central Europe as a member of the 90-student Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra with concerts in Prague, Vienna and Budapest. Corbin attended the Chamber Music Festival with Virtuoso Chee-Yun Kim as well. In 2018, Corbin joined the Berklee School of Music abroad program in Valencia, Spain with 150 international students and in fifth grade, he attended Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan.

Along with his pro bono community work, Corbin performs regularly for weddings, celebrations of life, holiday gatherings, and special artist concerts. His paid performances and busking have allowed him to save enough of his earnings to make a down payment and continue to make monthly payments on his own dream vehicle (Toyota Tacoma truck), which he uses to drive to local charity events and busking locations.

His study abroad includes three home-stay programs in Asia, namely Taiwan, China and northern China/Tibet. He also enjoys surfing and is on the high school varsity golf team.

In December 2019, Corbin played a concert for local villages in Rwanda and Kenya and raised money for school supplies prior to the trip.
